Links and Glossary

Bookmarks and links

It is probably self-evident, but for the linking mechanism to operate, it is necessary to have a target to point the link to ! In other words, links are inseparable from bookmarks that uniquely identify what is pointed to. In the traditional Web sense of links, a link always points to a file (HTML or other) or a location within a file. But how can such “files” be defined within the concept of the Word template ? In fact, it is clearly desirable that the authors do not have to be concerned by the details of the actual file that a link refers to. Rather, the author want to be able to point to “concepts” previously defined, either within the same Word document (but not necessarily on the same web page) or within another document, most especially within a related document such as the extension section “-2” that many lessons offer.
